For planting, choose seeds sold specifically for growing rather than shelled hemp hearts or food-grade hemp seeds. Outsidepride Sunn Hemp Seeds are the clearest fit for larger cover-crop, forage, and soil-improvement projects; 25 Sun Hemp Seeds 1108 is another listed option, though its product information provides little detail. The other three products are described as food seeds and are not identified as planting stock, so they are better treated as food—not as seeds to grow.
| Product | Best Fit | Planting Information |
|---|---|---|
| Outsidepride Sunn Hemp Seeds | Cover crops and farm use | Annual legume; listed for biomass, forage, soil improvement, and erosion control |
| 25 Sun Hemp Seeds 1108 | Buyers considering a small seed listing | Listing name alone does not specify growing instructions or intended use |
| Ripkitty Whole Raw Hemp Seeds | Food use | Listed as raw, vegan, and organic; not identified as planting seed |
| Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts | Food use | Shelled hemp hearts; not identified as planting seed |
| Nutiva Shelled Hemp Seed | Food use | Shelled organic hemp seed; not identified as planting seed |
Outsidepride Sunn Hemp Seeds
Best for: Gardeners and growers seeking an annual legume cover crop or seeds for forage-related farm use. The product listing identifies a five-pound quantity and describes the seed as suitable for high biomass production, non-wood fiber, forage, soil improvement, and erosion control.
This is the strongest match in the list for a buyer searching for hemp seed to grow because the listing explicitly describes agricultural planting purposes. Its stated uses make it more relevant to cover-crop and farm projects than food products.
Limitation: The provided product details do not specify planting depth, seeding rate, germination information, or regional growing recommendations. Check the package and local agricultural guidance before planting.
25 Sun Hemp Seeds 1108
Best for: Buyers who want to investigate a listing that appears to offer a small quantity of seeds. The product name specifies “25” and “Sun Hemp Seeds 1108,” but does not describe a crop type, intended planting use, or growing performance.
It is included because it is presented as seeds, unlike the clearly shelled food products below. Before choosing it for a garden or farm, confirm with the seller whether the seeds are intended for planting and request the relevant variety and growing details. The limited information makes it difficult to compare with the explicitly described Sunn Hemp product.
Limitation: The supplied listing data does not establish that these are viable planting seeds or provide cultivation instructions. Avoid relying on the product name alone to make that decision.
Ripkitty Whole Raw Hemp Seeds
Best for: Shoppers seeking hemp seeds for food use. The listing describes a 20-gram product as whole and raw, and identifies it as kosher, vegan, allergen-free, and organic.
This product is not a recommended planting choice based on the available information. Its features describe food attributes rather than agricultural seed traits. Choose it if you want a food product, not if you need seeds with stated planting directions.
Limitation: The supplied details do not identify it as seed for planting or provide germination and cultivation information.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts
Best for: Buyers looking for shelled hemp hearts for food use. The listed package size is 16 ounces, and the product name identifies the seeds as hemp hearts rather than agricultural planting stock.
Choose this product for its food format, not for starting a crop. The listing information provided does not say that the hearts are intended to germinate or be planted.
Limitation: Shelled hemp hearts are not presented as seeds for growing, and no planting instructions are provided.
Nutiva Shelled Hemp Seed
Best for: Food shoppers looking for shelled organic hemp seed in an eight-ounce package. The listing title describes it as organic and shelled, which makes its stated purpose distinct from a cover-crop seed listing.
For growing, choose a product that is explicitly sold as planting seed and has clear variety and sowing information. Nutiva’s supplied details do not establish suitability for planting.
Limitation: This product is identified as shelled food seed, not as seed for cultivation.
Buying Guide: How To Choose Hemp Seeds For Planting
Is the product sold for planting? Start with the package description. Look for an explicit statement that the seeds are intended for planting, along with the crop or variety name. Food labels such as “hearts,” “shelled,” and “raw” do not establish that a product is viable planting stock.
What do you want to grow? Match the stated purpose to your project. A cover-crop or forage listing may suit farm and soil-management goals, while a food product is intended for eating. The Outsidepride listing specifically mentions annual-legume use, biomass, forage, soil improvement, and erosion control.
What growing details should you confirm? Check the package or ask the seller about planting rate, sowing depth, timing, seed variety, and regional suitability. These details are not provided for every product listed here, so do not assume a one-size-fits-all planting method.
Are there rules to check first? Hemp cultivation requirements can vary by location and intended use. Before buying or planting, confirm current federal, state, and local requirements with the relevant agricultural authorities.
How should you compare the listed choices? Compare intended use and information quality before package size. Outsidepride gives the clearest agricultural-use description. The 25 Sun Hemp Seeds listing needs verification because its supplied details are sparse. The three shelled or food-oriented products are not substitutes for seeds labeled for planting.
